Cross Over

For God to save the world from its sins, He had to be born into the world and die for us. To be born into the world, He had to start a lineage or a line of descendents. About 4,000 years ago, a man heard a call from God to leave his country and his people and go to another land that he would be shown. This man was Abraham. Through Abraham, the line of descendants to the Messiah Jesus Christ began, making him the first Jewish or Hebrew person. The word "Hebrew" means to "Cross Over". By revealing himself in the life of Abraham, God crossed over into the world like he hadn’t done yet before. His presence impacted Abraham, moving him to places in his heart and in the world that he never knew were possible. Abraham crossed over from an old life to a new life with God, an old identity to a new identity, and as a result, shaking his foundations. We’ll see a person just like us sin, struggle and succeed, and in the middle of it all is God’s never ending faithfulness. We'll learn through the scriptures what crossing over looks like for us today. Last but not least, we will see Jesus, who crossed over from heaven to earth, in a way we may not have ever seen him before. In this study, we’re looking deeply into the Genesis 12-22 text and walking with Abraham, the father of faith, as he walks with God.
